Flyplate + Air Zoom
A carbon-fibre Flyplate works with dual forefoot Air Zoom units to deliver stability, propulsion and a smooth rolling sensation. Together, the system helps maintain forward momentum and responsive race-day speed deeper into the marathon.
-
ZoomX LT Foam
New ZoomX LT foam is up to 17% lighter than standard ZoomX while delivering 8% more energy return. Layered with ZoomX around the Flyplate, it creates a softer, bouncier and highly cushioned ride for long-distance racing.
-
New Atomknit Upper
The redesigned Atomknit upper delivers a more precise, secure fit with a lightweight seamless construction. Zoned midfoot cables, an integrated heel unit and moulded sockliner help keep the foot comfortably locked in over distance.
Nike Alphafly 4: Built for Marathon Speed
The Nike Alphafly 4 is the lightest and most responsive Alphafly yet, rebuilt from the ground up for runners chasing speed over the marathon distance. Combining new ZoomX LT foam, updated Air Zoom units, a carbon-fibre Flyplate and a redesigned Atomknit upper, the Alphafly 4 brings together cushioning, propulsion and stability in Nike’s flagship long-distance racing shoe.
More Energy Return, Less Weight
Compared with the Alphafly 3, the Alphafly 4 delivers 10% more energy return while weighing 5% less in a Men’s US 8.5. Every major component has been refined to create a smoother and more efficient racing experience, helping runners conserve momentum and maintain pace as fatigue begins to build deeper into the marathon.
New ZoomX LT Foam
At the heart of the Alphafly 4 is Nike’s new ZoomX LT foam, a lighter evolution of its highly responsive racing foam. ZoomX LT is up to 17% lighter than standard ZoomX while delivering 8% more energy return, creating a softer, bouncier sensation without adding unnecessary weight.
ZoomX LT works alongside traditional ZoomX foam above and below the Flyplate, creating a layered cushioning system designed specifically for the demands of long-distance racing.
Carbon Flyplate + Dual Air Zoom
A wide carbon-fibre Flyplate provides the stability and propulsion needed to carry speed over long distances. Its signature curved shape works with the surrounding cushioning to create a smooth rolling sensation through each stride and encourage consistent forward momentum.
Dual Air Zoom units in the forefoot have also been updated for the Alphafly 4, delivering a softer, quieter and more responsive sensation while working with the Flyplate and ZoomX cushioning to produce powerful race-day propulsion.
A Lighter, More Secure Atomknit Upper
The redesigned Atomknit upper focuses on lightweight containment and comfort over the marathon distance. A seamless construction incorporates breathable open-knit zones, targeted midfoot cables, an integrated heel structure and a moulded sockliner to help keep the foot secure as pace and running form change throughout a race.
Fast Shot Outsole for Race-Day Grip
Underfoot, the lightweight Fast Shot outsole provides the traction needed to stay connected to the road without adding unnecessary weight. It completes a system where every element — foam, Air, plate, upper and outsole — is designed to work together for efficient long-distance racing.
How Much Does the Nike Alphafly 4 Weigh?
The Nike Alphafly 4 weighs approximately 188g in a Men’s US 8.5, making it 5% lighter than the previous Alphafly in the same size. It features an 8mm heel-to-toe drop, balancing high-performance cushioning with the aggressive geometry expected from Nike’s premier marathon racing shoe.
Nike Alphafly 4 vs Alphafly 3
The Alphafly 4 evolves the formula established by the Alphafly 3 rather than simply adding more cushioning. The new model is lighter, delivers greater energy return and introduces ZoomX LT foam, updated Air Zoom units and a redesigned Atomknit upper. The result is intended to feel softer and smoother while retaining the powerful propulsion that defines the Alphafly.
Designed for Half Marathons and Marathons
The Alphafly 4 is purpose-built for road racing, with Nike positioning it specifically for the half marathon and marathon. Its combination of high energy return, lightweight cushioning, forefoot Air Zoom and carbon-fibre propulsion makes it particularly suited to runners chasing personal bests over longer race distances.
The Flagship of Nike Racing
Sitting at the top of Nike’s road racing range, the Alphafly 4 is designed for runners who want maximum assistance maintaining speed over distance. Alongside racing models such as the Vaporfly, the Alphafly takes a more cushioned, highly propulsive approach aimed squarely at the demands of marathon racing.
The Nike Alphafly 4 is expected to arrive October 30 at The Running Company — available online and at selected stores across Australia.
